St. Mary's County, Inc.
Christmas in April
We’re excited to share an update about how we will be helping homeowners moving forward.
Beginning this year, 2026, Christmas in April St. Mary’s County will be completing repair projects throughout the year rather than on a single annual workday. This change allows us to respond more quickly to community members who need help.
As our Executive Director Darene Kleinsorgen shared, this means we will no longer have to tell someone who needs a roof or accessibility ramp in January that they must wait more than a year for assistance. By spreading projects out across the year, we can begin helping people sooner and better utilize the time and skills of our incredible tradespeople and volunteers.
So far, we have inspected 33 applicant homes, with 9 projects already identified for completion, and we will continue inspections as we identify additional homeowners in need.
Volunteers will still play a huge role in making these projects possible. The exciting part is that with projects happening throughout the year, there will be more opportunities to volunteer on different dates.
We’ll be sharing volunteer sign-up information soon on our website and right here on Facebook, so stay tuned!
We’d also like to take a moment to welcome and thank the many new followers who have joined our page recently. Your support helps us reach more neighbors who need assistance.
Thank you for your patience as we roll out this new process, and as always, we welcome feedback from our community!
